The Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) is a collaborative effort among business, P-12, higher education, non-profit, and government entities aimed at building and connecting STEM teaching and learning capacity in the state of Ohio. The OSLN’s focus on student and teacher success in STEM-related fields is evidenced in its three overarching goals: 1) enhance STEM teaching and learning capacity in line with state-level principles and budget, 2) accelerate and enrich existing STEM start-up schools and Programs of Excellence, and 3) create a network-based infrastructure that promotes and connects sustainable STEM initiatives. Ultimately, the OSLN seeks to create a world-class STEM educational infrastructure in Ohio in an effort to support economic growth and ensure the state’s position as a national leader in innovation, research, and emerging technology. Although hundreds of entities have partnered with the OSLN since its inception in 2008, particularly at the local level, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Battelle have provided significant funding and leadership, with the latter serving as the primary OSLN framework developer.
