Greater Louisville Education Commitment

Regional Effort

Since 2008, the Greater Louisville community-- educators, business leaders, comunity leaders, and metropolitan government-- has worked together to improve college success in the region.  Specifically, leaders identified the goal of adding at least 40,000 bachelor’s degrees and 15,000 associate’s degrees.  To achieve this goal, the community committed to bring about the following objectives:

  • Creating and supporting a college-going culture within the community.
  • Using the business communitie's unique points of leverage to accelerate education attainment.
  • Preparing students for sucecss in college, career, citizenship, and life.
  • Making postseocndary education accessible and affordable.
  • Increasing educational persistence, performance, and process.

The community formalized its commitment with the signing of a mutual accountability agreement called the "Greater Louisville Education Committment," attached below.  The Business-Higher Education Forum was an active partner in this process, drafting the Louisville Blueprint for Community Action and serving as a partner and national resource.
