The non-profit organizations City Year, Communities in Schools, and Talent Development work together with school administrators and teachers to help students who are least likely to graduate. The program works on the school level, and procedures are based on research and data analysis. Since early intervention is especially effective, the program begins in middle school. Each organization provides a unique part of an all-inclusive package, including social and academic support in and out of school as well as an early warning system to find students who are going off track. Attendance, behavior, and grades are tracked over time to show progress. Students who are the most at risk receive an individualized intervention and one-on-one attention.
Level 1 – The program has publicly available descriptive data of two of its five new locations, including number of participants, and demographic information. The program also provides percentages that show longitudinal reductions in participants’ absences, negative behavior, and failing coursework. However, no statistical analyses have been conducted.
