Evidence of Impact

Research shows that students taught by new teachers who participate in SCNTP induction programs do as well or better on standardized tests as students taught by experienced teachers.

Study of Reading Performance Among 1-3 Grade Students in Classes Taught by SCNTP Teachers: One study conducted after the first ten years of the Center found that students taught by SCNTP teachers showed significant improvement on reading tests after one year.

A comparison of SCNTP Beginning Teachers and Experienced Teachers as Measured by Student Performance on SAT9: One study, also conducted early in the NTC’s existence, found that after a year of instruction and intervention from SCNTP, 4th-8th grade students of SCNTP new teachers did as well as students taught by more experienced teachers.

Two studies sponsored by the developer.
NTC is working in eight states, with support from a diverse group of foundations.
