Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the program provides additional scholarship funding to students. Student must be from an ethnic minority group, and earn at least a 3.3 high school GPA to be eligible to apply. Students are free to participate in any field of study. Scholars are also supported through academic and career counseling, and online resources for internship, fellowship, and service opportunities. Students must earn a high college GPA to continue to receive funding.
Level 2 - The program has provided outcome data across more than five contexts, including high graduation and retention percentages. However, the program has not conducted publicly available statistical tests of significance.
Leadership in Service to Others: GMS Annual Report 2009: Provides a thorough program description, an argument for the program’s importance, and positive quotations from participants. Also reports descriptive participant data, including race, financial information, area of study, and graduation rates.
